Elderberry Syrup by Ruth is a local, woman-owned business located in Leland, NC but inspired by owner Ruth Mulligan’s childhood in Germany. She grew up among the vineyards, orchards, and wild elderberry bushes in Germany, and learned how to make the family’s famous elderberry syrup at a young age. Today, she is proud to share more than just her elderberry syrup with you, but rather with every bottle a meaningful piece of her childhood, heritage, and family.
Ruth moved to the USA in 2007, and in 2012, she and her husband had their first child. When her daughter entered preschool, Ruth knew it was time to dust off the elderberry syrup recipe to keep the whole family healthy and to boost their immune systems. She began making the syrup again for her family and a few friends. Friends then recommended it to friends, who recommended it to other friends and so on. Since going into business in 2018, Ruth’s Elderberry Syrup company has quickly grown from one local store to 65 retail locations across North and South Carolina.
Ruth’s Elderberry Syrup tastes better and is more effective than any other syrup on the shelves. Our organic berries are imported from Germany and are of a much higher quality [MC1] than anything one can find in the US. We only use the best organic spices and herbs in our products. We are proud of the fact that no artificial ingredients, thickeners, or preservatives are used in anything we produce. All of our products are produced in small batches in our own certified production kitchen.
